INTERNAZIONALI D’ABRUZZO

After being absent for 25 years, professional tennis is back in Abruzzo. The city of Francavilla al Mare has been confirmed as stage of the ATP Challenger Tour, hosting the third edition of a tournament with a prize money of $ 54.160. The Top 100 players from the World ATP Ranking, young talented players and Sport VIPs will be in Abruzzo for the tournament week, giving to more than 16.000 spectators a once in a lifetime show.

The first edition of the Internazionali di Tennis d’Abruzzo was privileged enough to have as guests tennis icons such as Corrado Barazzutti (Davis Cup captain) and Filippo Volandri (ex no. 25 of the world ranking, coach and Sky-man), together with great international champions as Alexander Bublik, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Gastao Elias, Lorenzo Sonego, Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo, Simone Bolelli, Matteo Berrettini, Alessandro Giannessi and Marco Cecchinato.

2018 was the year of baby-prodigies, who have dominated the clay court of Francavilla al Mare by giving an incredible show to a large audience. Besides the finalists Casper Ruud and Gianluigi Quinzi, who was winner of his first challenger title, the most followed Next Gen was Félix Auger-Aliassime soon destined to enter the Top-10.

2019 was the year of italian players, Federico Gaio, Stefano Travaglia, Salvatore Caruso, Giulio Zeppieri and the 1st 18&Under player in the world Lorenzo Musetti.

Abruzzo is, therefore, confirmed as the cradle of international professional tennis in Francavilla al Mare also known to sport world names, for liveliness and enthusiasm, as the “Foro Italico dell’Adriatico”.
In the reference week, this ATP Challenger tournament is the only in Europe which ensures top players participation. Seven days of incredible tennis, with special events such as Kid’s Day, Autograph Sessions, ProAm tournaments, Tennis Village and Official dinner.
