The ‘home’ tournament of MEF Tennis Events has awarded 11 titles. Over the years, the Internazionali dell’Umbria has been the launching pad for athletes such as David Goffin, Grigor Dimitrov, Marcel Granollers, Kevin Anderson, Benoit Paire, Carlos Berlocq, Marco Cecchinato, Federico Delbonis and the unforgettable Federico Luzzi, and an opportunity to see on clay historical figures such as Thomas Muster, former world no. 1 in 1987, and Gaston Gaudio, winner of Roland Garros in 2004 and former world no. 5.
In eleven years, the Internazionali dell’Umbria has gained a prominent position on the international scene: “Year after year, this tournament – commented Sergio Palmieri – has grown in level, both in terms of the quality of the players and the organisation. Today it represents one of the most important stages in Italy. Great credit to Marcello Marchesini and Francesco Cancellotti for their competence and passion over the years”.
They will return in 2020 with the new name of Internazionali di Tennis Città di Todi and with the great honour of being the first world tournament post lockdown caused by Covid-19.
